The Virtual Flashmob Dance Class is a pre recorded all ages event in which Ms. AGRA 2020 Shannon McKenzie Perkins will teach original beginner level choreography to a popular Pride anthem. My hope is that the attendees will enjoy learning the choreography and whenever the song is played during our rescheduled Pride weekend (whether at the festival or at bar gatherings) people will break into the dance routine. I believe it will be a fun thing to participate in virtually while also giving everyone something to look forward to once we can all get together again. All Day: REI Presents: Venture Out

Venture Out is a story of overcoming odds, the power of resilience, and ultimately, the ever-lasting effects of LGBTQ+ community building. The Venture Out Project, founded by Perry Cohen, is a non profit organization that brings LGBTQ+ folks together outdoors on wilderness trips. In sharing Perry’s story, and hearing from the other TVOP participants, we get a glimpse into the healing qualities of nature and life-saving community bonds that are being forged as a result of Perry’s work. REI Co-op, a presenting partner of this Venture Out Project video, believes a life outdoors is a life well lived, for all. Check out the film all weekend here.

Join Virtual Arizona Pride organizer and ASU professor David Boyles for a communal viewing and discussion of the classic Paris is Burning on Zoom.

Released in 1991, Paris is Burning is director Jennie Livingston’s famed documentary about the late-80s ballroom scene in New York City which introduced the mainstream to voguing, reading, and shade and to the vibrant community built by queer and trans people of color living on the margins of society. We will discuss the film’s enduring impact on queer culture, and wider popular culture, and what it tells us about the experience of queer people of color in the community.
